Ford Flex Engine’s answer to people who want a new-style station wagon is the cool-looking Flex.
It’s an older SUV that still looks good in a sea of family haulers with similar shapes, like the Ford Explorer.
The base engine of Ford Flex with front-wheel drive takes a while to get going because the gearbox is slow and the standard V6 engine isn’t very powerful.
The stronger turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 changes that, though, and the EcoBoost engine makes it possible for the heavy new Flex to go from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds.
Due to the car’s average handling, this speed is only useful on the highway or on long stretches of very straight roads.
In comparison, it takes the Chevy Traverse 7.1 seconds to reach the same mark, while the Dodge Durango can do it in an impressive 4.6 seconds, but only in the much more expensive V8-powered SRT version.
All three versions of the Ford Flex can only pull up to 4,500 pounds, which isn’t very good for the segment.
