Ford Focus St Engine Specs, Review & Price
Ford Focus St Overview
The Ford Focus is a small, outgoing car that drives well and can go downtown.
It is available as a four-door sedan or a five-door hatchback, and it has a variety of powertrains and trims that make it appealing to a wider range of people, from those who want an economy car to those who want a muscle car.
Even a Focus Electric model that gets 105 MPGe is available (miles per gallon equivalent)..
This generation of the 2018 Focus is in its eighth year.
The base engine is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with direct injection and variable valve timing. It makes 160 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque.
The numbers don’t sound like much, but they have a lot of oomph. Either the 5-speed manual or the 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission has problems. Together, it gets 31 miles per gallon.
There is also a turbocharged three-cylinder with a small displacement of 1.0 litres that makes 123 horsepower, which is a lot less than the 2.0 litre but has the same torque.
It’s not as fast, but its 6-speed manual transmission gets 34 mpg (one more gear than the 2.0 litre because it needs it, to keep the revs up).
It gets 2 mpg less with the 6-speed automatic, which is only 1 mpg more than the 2.0-litre engine with the manual transmission.
Any benefit of the three-cylinder engine goes away in the Focus, but that’s not the case in the Ford Fiesta, which is smaller and lighter.
Then there is the beautiful Focus RS hatchback, which has a 350-horsepower 2.3-litre turbo engine. It has torque-vectoring all-wheel drive and different driving modes, such as Track and Drift, to handle all that power in turns.

Ford Focus St Safety Feature
ABS brakes can tell when a tyre has stopped turning because of hard braking, and they can adjust the pressure on the brakes to let the tyre turn again. This makes it easier for the car to turn while stopping.
Stability control automatically senses when the vehicle’s limits for handling have been reached and reduces engine power or applies certain brakes to keep the driver from losing control of the vehicle.
Front-impact airbags for the driver and passenger are made to protect the head in the event of a head-on collision.
Side impact airbags
Side impact airbags are built into the front seats to protect the torso in the event of a side collision.
Airbags above the seats protect the heads of the people inside in case of a side collision or rollover.
Knee airbags help keep the lower legs of the people in the car from getting hurt badly in an accident.
Seatbelt pretensioners tighten the seatbelts before a crash so that the person is sitting in the best position.
The vehicle is built with a way to predict and/or find unauthorised vehicle entry. The car has a device that stops the engine from starting if the correct original manufacturer key is not used.
